Butler County commissioners agreed on a split vote this week to renew a contract with a Cranberry psychologist whose intensive in-home services to troubled adolescents have won him accolades and support, despite concerns about the cost and litigation the doctor filed against the county.

Nashville gang life draws thousands 
Nashville has several thousand members in nine street gangs that go by names such as the Bloods, Crips, Asian Pride, Brown Pride and MS-13. Some deal drugs and get in fights with each other. All throw gang signs. And some of them go home to single mothers in the suburbs.

Pahrump tax rate at $3.12

BROOKSHIRE - A 12-year-old boy has been accused of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old boy with a bamboo stick while four other young children held the boy down.

Police logs 
Officers and firefighters responded to the 2100 block of Starlight for a reported car fire. On arrival, they found a small fire under the hood of a 1995 Buick. The fire was put out quickly with an extinguisher. Damage was limited to the fan belt and wiring; total damages were put at $250.

Teen arrested for embezzlement 
A 17-year-old store employee was arrested and charged with numerous counts after he allegedly stole in excess of $12,500-worth of goods from his employer.

Valley Township bridge closed 
DANVILLE The Montour County commissioners closed a bridge in Valley Township recently after engineers discovered weakness in its steel beams.

Ted Fitzgerald wins Niequist award for helping troubled youth 
Theodore Fitzgerald, an attorney who has represented the Porter County welfare department for 34 years, is this years recipient of the prestigious Merilyn J. Niequist Memorial Award.

July 19, 2006 The Boys & Girls Club of Brownsvilles downtown headquarters is open again, with a fresh coat of paint and a new tenant. The city of Brownsville Parks and Recreation Department Monday began services at the clubs shuttered Eighth Street headquarters.

Radio chatter tags kids in school burglary 
LOS LUNAS, N.M. -- A Los Lunas Public Schools resource officer and police detectives have identified five kids they believe are connected to a recent break-in where thousands of dollars of equipment was stolen.

Culpeper man assualted by trio of juvenile
As a result of Juvenile Probations refusal to respond, charges are pending in the case of a Culpeper man who was assaulted by three male teens, police say.

Teens Arrested In El Cerrito Burglary String 
El Cerrito police have arrested two more teens believed to be involved in a string of residential burglaries in El Cerrito, Albany and Richmond, following the arrest of a 19-year-old man two weeks ago, El Cerrito Detective Cpl. Donald Horgan reported today.
